Spot Us
Interesting. Spot Us is a new project funded by a Knight Foundation grant that funds journalism through the targeted donations of micro-patrons. You can, for example, chip in a couple bucks so that Alexis Madrigal will write a story on biofuel usage in California. Once contributions reach $250, off he'll go.

Government 2.0
This overview of what "Government 2.0" might look like, with a focus on Wikinomic's author Don Tapscott's project of the same name, asks a great question: how can a more social approach to government start to fuzz the line between officialdom and our own civic lives? (Thx Dave)

Queen Rania Takes to YouTube to Challenge Arab Stereotypes
Jordan's glorious Queen Rania has launched a neat project called "Send Me Your Stereotypes," a YouTube-based conversation centered around video questions and answers about the Arab world. After the effort's launch, Rania offered her take on the initial response:
Thank you, YouTubers, for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. Some of the input I received was very positive. Others were quite critical. But that's okay because debate is part of the dialogue. We don't always have to agree to get along. So please keep the feedback coming in.
...
You asked a lot of questions spanning a whole range of issues, topics relating to how empowered Arab women are, to the sanctity of religion, to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. So I think I can fairly say that I have my work cut out for me. I must say that at this rate I don't think I'm going to have any time to watch 24.
Wow. She's the whole package -- open-minded, new media savvy, beautiful and sarcastic.
