Honey: It's the Bee's Knees
Diving head-first into the great "is honey vegan?" debate. I lean towards no, on the grounds that it's the by-product of a non-human creature that isn't meant for human consumption, similar to milk. But the verdict is of no personal consequence to me either way -- no drop of honey has (knowingly) passed these lips since I saw a honeycomb up close and personal at the Wyckoff wildlife center as a small slightly neurotic child and concluded that at some point some bees' legs must get stuck in the honey and end up in the jar. I, of course, just couldn't risk ever consuming insect appendages -- please, I'd probably have to end it all were that to happen. Ergo, no honey for Scola.
Yeah, not all my food idiosyncrasies make a whole lot of sense for a grown up.
food, honey, veganism
