Timothy B. Lee over on Ars asks if the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is souring on the very idea of software patents. A couple recent cases suggest that it might be. But it seems more likely that -- burned by the Blackberry mess -- they're just growing more reluctant to dole out crappy, overly broad, weak patents.
