Climate crisis for the restofus: I'm intrigued by two organizations who are boiling down their climate work to simple numbers so easy a monkey could understand. (Ha, as if Earth can still sustain monkey life.)

The first is 350, a new project spearheaded by Bill McKibben that uses the number developed by Dr. James Hansen as a target of where our atmospheric carbon dioxide should be. And the second is Climate Counts, which scorecards companies on how good they are on climate stuff. That org is headed by the head of Stonyfield Farms, makers of some nice yogurt. Apple, for the record, scores a not so great 11. Compare that to Nokia's 39, Dell's 49, and HP's 68.

I like the idea of boiling complex environmental issues down to just a few numbers. Heck, we're busy people.
