Two reasons I'm loving Clay Shirky's recent talk called Gin, Television, and Social Surplus: (1) it provides Gilligan's Island-based arguments against the idea that twiddling with Internet is a waste of time and (2) it's given me new ways to think about extracting small amounts of (political) interest/agency/creativity that would otherwise either dissipate or never reach critical mass.
