- Bodum 4 Minute French Press Timer
Because using the clock on the stove is sometimes just too hard…I picked up a very similar one at Starbucks yesterday for $8 (I think). Recommended, for sheer foodie gadgetry factor alone.

- The Mellowing of William Jefferson Clinton
Lots of good stuff in there, including comparisons of how the Clinton and Obama White Houses run. But I particularly liked bit of color: "'You know, I’m a Baptist,' Clinton explained. 'We don’t give up on anybody. We believe in deathbed conversions.' How about Ken Starr? 'Well,' he said, then paused. 'That’s another kettle of fish.'"
- Felix Salmon » Why academics make better bloggers than journalists
Interesting thoughts. Journalists aren't always great at making obvious why what they're writing is uber-relevant right-here-right-now-today. Blogging kinda demands that you make the "who cares?" part blatant. The thing is, some things are interesting just because they *are.* Take just about any article in Vanity Fair. I devour articles in VF about topics I don't care about and people I've never heard of because I'm enjoying good reporting and good writing. Those pieces aren't relevant in the least. And yet, I don't care a bit.

- Nudge-ocracy
A good piece, but I suspect the authors are seeing a great deal more intellectual coherence in the "administration's" thinking than actually exists.

- Go Ahead, Steal Me
Optioning Lethem's books and stories for the low, low price of only a buck a piece.
- Searching for the Benefits of Google Health
A flaw that others have picked up on: the program uses insurance company billing data, and not medical records, to put together your profile. And you can imagine how accurate that is.
- CBC upset over Obama’s stance on black farmers
The president is taking some heat over what seems to be the Justice Department's intention to cap Pigford settlement payments at just $100 million, in contrast to how Senator Obama pushed legislation to aggressively right the wrongs of how black farmers were slighted by the federal government.
